Marie Giammarco is a proud Baby Boomer originally from Newburgh, NY, a small town about 50 miles northwest of “The City” (that’s New York City :-). She currently lives in Midlothian, Virginia (Central Virginia near Richmond) and has been here since 1998. She loves the South and the warmer weather!

Marie retired from the Federal government in June 2011 after 33 years of service and currently works for the YMCA of Greater Richmond. She is a water aerobics instructor, Wellness Coach, and Lifestyle Coach for the diabetes program through the YMCA. Marie is a certified health and wellness coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and has her own coaching practice called MarieG Health Coaching, LLC.

Marie has a Masters in Computer Science/Information Systems from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY and a Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies from Excelsior College, Albany, NY.

She loves nature, hiking, and kayaking. One of the neatest things she did was a 50-mile kayak trip with the Boy Scouts down the James River one year. It took a week to do that. It was so much fun! She went on a lot of camping trips with the scouts while her son was in the troop and slept in tents. Fun stuff! This satisfied her need to be in nature!

Marie loves animals. She has a cat named Harry and a cat named Abigail who keep her company. She has two grandsons that keep her very busy as well.

Marie is a volunteer for a nonprofit called the Veterans Sentinel Group. They are working on creating a community center for the veterans and their families so they can spend time together doing different sponsored activities like movie nights, pot lucks, live music, etc.

Marie’s burning desire is to someday have a beach house to spend time in so she can write her transformational, best-selling book titled Six Secrets to a Healthy Life at 50+ and have a place to escape to when she needs to. She also wants to visit Italy so she can see where her grandparents were born and meet her Italian relatives.

Marie’s key to success is her positive, enthusiastic personality and her passion to help people find joy and balance in their life.
