A Weekend in the Life of This Social Boomer

Recently, I have had the opportunity to go to different venues to hear some amazing live Boomer bands.  This Boomer enjoys getting out on the weekends and dancing with friends.  Richmond, like many other cities, has become a hub for microbreweries. Many of the microbreweries offer live music on the weekends.

On Friday night I went to Steam Bell Beer Works with some members of my Richmond Social Boomers meetup group and heard a great band called The Soul Proprietors.  They played a selection of old-time R&B and some newer selections.  The lead singer is phenomenal!  I had a blast! This group loves going to live music venues and I always have some people to dance with. It is funny that it is mostly the Boomers that get out there and dance!  What’s up with that?!

On Saturday, I had a date and went to the Cary St Café in Richmond to hear the Tin Can Fish Band.  Another great Richmond band!  They play a mix of their own music as well as folk, rock, bluegrass and some Irish jig!  Another fun afternoon!  My date and I were the only ones out there dancing!

On Sunday of the same weekend, we went bowling, then to Legend Brewing Company in Richmond.  I had never been there before.  They have Bluegrass bands that play on Sundays.  We had dinner at Legend and enjoyed some of their craft beer.  It was great because we were entertained while we ate.  Legend also has a nice patio where you can sit outside and enjoy the view of the Richmond skyline. I really don’t drink that much in spite of this picture!  Luckily there is always water available.

So that was my weekend.  How was yours?
