Taking a break

One way I managed to keep myself healthy is by taking a break from caregiving. Yes, I said, take a break. I know it can be so very challenging to get someone else to step in so you can catch a break, but it is essential to your wellbeing while giving care to a loved one or friend. If a family member is not available at the time, ask a friend of yours or a friend of the person you are caring for. You may be caring for a loved one or friend who does not live in the town where you live. It can be challenging, but getting the word out to friendly circles around you will be so beneficial. As you may have found out, it is much more difficult for the caregiver than the one receiving the care.

So, take a break. Go to the movies or the library. Find a quiet spot and meditate or just look at what nature has offered you in the form of flowers, beautiful gardens, and the birds flying around. Take up a hobby. Paint, crochet, knit, read, lift weights, sing. Go to the movies! The possibilities are endless!

Breathe! Yes, I said BREATHE! DEEP BREATHE! “Why I know how to breathe!” you exclaim.
Learning the concept of deep breathing, and finding out how beneficial it is to your body and health is essential in dealing with the daily stresses of giving care. Deep Breathing will help you relax as you take in ample oxygen and release carbon dioxide to rid your body of toxins and stress. Do this for you!

Think about your health and remember to eat nutritious foods and stay away from the See Food and Eat Plan. Which, I admit is probably my favorite plan, but definitely NOT a good eating plan to be on.

You only have one body, so think outside the box, and put yourself FIRST!

Above all, enjoy the beauty of giving care to a loved one. Enjoy Loving, Caring, and Giving!
