Embracing Our Aging Bodies

As the Baby Boomers enter their golden years, they sometimes find it difficult to embrace their aging bodies.  As we look in the mirror, we begin to see our wrinkles, our gray hair or no hair, our “sags and bags.”  What we should see is a wise person who has lived a long life.  We should see the amazing beings that we have become staring back at us in the mirror. That wise soul who has lived life!

Our bodies will age, it is only natural. We should love ourselves and be comfortable in our skin.  After all, we have lived through some tumultuous years and have come back stronger.  As a generation, we are more active.  We are working longer and doing more.  Many of us have retired and are in our second careers.  Why not!?  If you enjoy what you do, why not keep doing it?

Appreciate the wisdom you have gained and the life you have lived.  Good or bad, it has made us stronger.  We are more confident in our actions.  Boomers want to continue to experience life well into their 80’s and 90’s.  If we keep our aging bodies in good physical shape, there is no reason we cannot live long and well into our 90’s!

Love yourself and be grateful to your body for supporting you so you can do what you want to do.  Keep your body healthy by feeding it wholesome and healthy foods.  Keep physically active.  Do exercise that you can keep up with and enjoy.

We have acquired a great deal of wisdom in our lifetime.  Use it and be yourself!  Next time you look in the mirror, know that you have lived!
