How I became CEO of my own company-without my knowledge

Life can be so strange sometimes. As we go through our life’s journey and we see ourselves going down this winding road that leads us to where we find ourselves today. If we take the time to look back to our youthful days, we can see that fine thread that shows us how we got to where we are now.

I remember how my Mom had us girls (my two sisters and me) going from one senior neighbor to another doing different jobs. At the time, we never gave it a second thought. We just did what Mom told us to do. We would go to the store; dust; gather kindling and coal for their pot belly stoves and a lot of the time we would just sit and enjoy their stories.

I ended up learning a lot about seniors and I love being around them and listening to them. They are a wealth of information. Although, I speak about how I’ve been helping seniors for over 25 years in my story as to “why I started my business”, it has actually been for a lot longer. But, I realize now just how important our childhood days are. What can you come up with in your childhood that has led you to where you are today?

Rita McCulloch is a mid generation Boomer who saw change and turmoil happen all around her from a vantage point as a young African American woman growing up in Huntsville, Alabama. Yet her focus was on family, community, church and helping others. She began helping seniors with their personal and financial needs as a volunteer while raising her family. She then founded a business, Boomer3Solutions, through which she helps educate, organize, and prepare families for their golden age years and minimize the stress that can be related to caregiving. Rita brings to Boomer Connections a strong background in elder care concerns and the many decisions facing their Boomer family members.
